Yashasvi Jaiswal smashes Lungi Ngidi for a brilliant six down the ground in IND vs SA 2025 3rd ODI [Watch]

Star India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed a brilliant six off South Africa pacer Lungi Ngidi in the ongoing third ODI. The game is being played at Visakhapatnam on Saturday, December 6.

Bowling first, the Men in Blue bundled South Africa out for 270 in 47.5 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma walked out to begin the run-chase for India. On the first ball of the sixth overall, Jaiswal cut loose and slammed a solid six.

Ngidi bowled a pitched up delivery outside the off-stump from around the wicket. Jaiswal shuffled across slightly, getting into a solid position, and sent the ball straight down the ground for a cracking six. It was a 77m maximum that came right off the middle of the bat. The sound of the ball from the moment it left the bat made it clear that it would end beyond the boundary ropes.

Jaiswal and Rohit gave India a steady start in the chase. The duo added 48 runs for no loss in the first powerplay and also crossed the 50-run partnership.

Yashasvi Jaiswal got an opportunity in the ODI team with Shubman Gill being ruled out due to a neck injury. However, he could not make the most of the chances in the two games so far. The left-hander struggled to make a mark in the 50-over format.

In the first game, he started well but was dismissed for 18 off 16 balls with two boundaries and a six. He could not get going in the second game either, scoring 22 runs off 38 balls.

Moreover, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been slow even in the ongoing third ODI, having scored 27 runs off 52 balls until the 15th over. However, with the target not being under 300, he can afford to take his time and middle and play a big innings.

In his three matches in the format before the ongoing game, he has scored just 55 runs at an average of 18.33. The 23-year-old will be keen to end the series on a positive note.
