Usyk Ready To Help Anthony Joshua Prepare For Potential Fury Showdown
Naija News
Oleksandr Usyk says he is willing to join forces with Anthony Joshua if a long-rumoured clash with Tyson Fury finally takes shape, promising to pass on the same tactics that helped him beat the "Gypsy King" twice.
Anthony Joshua has confirmed that he will be spending time in Usyk's training camp before his eight-round crossover fight with Jake Paul on 19 December.
The former unified heavyweight champion will be without Ben Davison in the corner, and his search for a permanent coach is still ongoing.
If Joshua deals with Paul as many expect, the spotlight is likely to move straight back to the biggest all-British fight of the modern era. Talks for Joshua versus Fury have collapsed more than once, and some believe the window for the contest is beginning to close. Even so, it would generate huge interest if both sides return to negotiations.
Usyk has already shown the path to victory, beating Fury on points in their first meeting and edging a tight rematch. Asked by Boxing King Media if he would help Joshua prepare for Fury should the fight be signed, the Ukrainian did not hesitate.
"Yeah, I help him," Usyk said. "Two versus one."
He also spoke warmly about Joshua, praising his attitude and love for the sport.
"I like this guy, because this guy is smart. I think this guy has a very big heart. He really loves boxing," he said.
Usyk stressed that working with Joshua would not involve trying to make him fight like a southpaw.
"We not give my style. We, my team, it's not only one lion, it's only Usyk? No, we have another, different style. I'm southpaw, Anthony is regular. Anthony doesn't move like me," he explained.
"Listen, we give tools that help Anthony grow. My team with plan, give me what helps me. My team gives plans that helps anyone, not only my plan."
Usyk recently vacated the WBO belt but still holds the WBC, WBA and IBF titles. He is expected to return to the ring in 2026.
