The Reserve Bank of Australia held the benchmark interest rate at 3.6 per cent at the final monetary policy board meeting of the year, but noted the risk of higher inflation and vowed to do whatever it took to reduce the threat of higher prices.
The decision to keep interest rates unchanged was expected by economists, but was overshadowed by a more wary tone on monetary policy from the RBA following the return of inflationary pressures in the economy in recent data.
