경기 수원 R&D사이언스 파크 조성 부지가 내년 1월 도시개발구역으로 지정된다.
수원시는 지난 8일 일월수목원 물빛누리홀에서 '수원 R&D사이언스 파크 조성사업' 시민보고회를 열고 이같이 밝혔다.
수원 R&D사이언스 파크 조성 사업은 권선구 입북동 484번지 일원 35만2600㎡ 부지에 첨단과학연구단지를 조성하는 것이다. R&D(연구·개발), AI(인공지능), 반도체, IT(정보기술), 바이오 등 첨단연구기업을 유치해 세계를 선도하는 '글로벌 첨단 R&D 허브'로 도약하는 것을 목표로 하는 사업이다.
R&D사이언스 파크에는 연구개발 시설과 산학협력센터를 조성할 계획이다. 연구원·종사자 등을 위한 공동주택, 공원·녹지 등도 들어선다.
R&D사이언스 파크 주변에는 반도체 특화대학이자 우수한 연구 인력을 배출하는 성균관대 자연과학캠퍼스와 탑동 이노베이션밸리가 있다. R&D사이언스 파크가 조성되면 산학연 연계가 활발하게 이뤄질 것으로 수원시는 기대하고 있다.
수원시는 R&D사이언스 파크와 탑동 이노베이션밸리를 중심으로 100만평(3.3㎢) 규모의 '수원경제자유구역' 지정을 추진해 한국형 실리콘밸리를 조성할 계획이다.
이재준 수원시장은 "R&D사이언스 파크가 완성되면 기업이 모이고, 일자리가 늘어나 지역이 전반적으로 성장할 것"이라며 "R&D사이언스 파크는 단순한 개발사업이 아니라 수원의 미래로 이동하는 출발선"이라고 말했다.
