Nikkhil Advani's 'Freedom at Midnight' season 2 gets release date

The season 2 of Nikkhil Advani's historical-drama series, Freedom at Midnight will be released on Sony LIV on January 9 next year, the makers announced on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
Based on the book by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins, the show recounts the story of India's independence in detail. With Nikkhil as the director and showrunner, the series has been written by Abhinandan Gupta, Adwitiya Kareng Das, Gundeep Kaur, Divya Nidhi Sharma, Revanta Sarabhai, and Ethan Taylor.
The makers made the announcement by sharing the show's trailer which gives a glimpse into the events that took place in 1947. There are heated discussions between all the historical figures, right from MK Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to Mohammed Ali Jinnah and Liaqat Ali Khan. All of them negotiate the terms of the nation's partition into two separate countries based on geography and religion. The new season promises to be an intense political drama, bringing forth all the voices that shaped India's history.
