Mother of young woman charged with attacking man severed from trial
Oxford Mail
Tia Pomeroy and Mason Robins are said to have attacked Peter Crowley outside the Underhill Circus shops in Barton on April 23, 2022.
He was found dead in his flat the following day, with the case initially treated by police as a murder investigation.
However this was dropped when it was discovered the 50-year-old's cause of death was due to alcoholic liver disease and drug intoxication.
Tia Pomeroy, 19, of Stowford Road, Headington, and Robins, 20, of Valentia Road, Headington, have denied causing actual bodily harm and two counts of intending to pervert the course of justice.
Three others are also on trial, with the prosecution alleging they attempted to conceal Tia Pomeroy and Robins from police and dispose of evidence.
They are her father Morton Morton, 34, of Bayswater Road, Headington, and Bobby Davenport, 33, of Virgate, Drayton, Abingdon.
They have each denied two counts of intending to pervert the course of justice.
The jury previously heard that Mr Crowley had been in a relationship with a woman called Gemma Pomeroy who was the aunt of Tia Pomeroy.
She died in March 2022 and the Pomeroy family blamed Mr Crowley as she relapsed drinking alcohol.
Tia Pomeroy's mother Michaela Pomeroy was previously on trial charged with perverting the course of justice and began to give evidence on November 28.
However, on December 5 Judge Michael Roques told the jury she had been severed from the trial after her mental health took 'a significant turn for the worse'.
The judge explained that two psychiatrists had concluded she was not well enough to continue to give evidence in the trial.
Judge Roques told the jury that Michaela Pomeroy will join Jade Tarling and Jemma Moir, who were severed from the trial in the early stages, for a trial in May.
Davenport then gave evidence, after it was confirmed that Morton would not be giving evidence.
She told the jury that she texted Michaela Pomeroy on the day Mr Crowley was found dead after she saw photos of the police c
