Mayor leads new men's mental health pilot in York and North Yorkshire
The Press, York
A pilot scheme is targeting the way men access and engage with mental health services.
Men in Mind, a new pilot programme, is being piloted in York and North Yorkshire as part of a broader men's mental fitness campaign led by Mayor David Skaith.
The scheme is being delivered in partnership with the charity Movember and York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.
It aims to help professionals better engage with men and improve mental health outcomes.
David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, said: "Movember are known across the world for their life-saving work, tackling the crisis that is too many men dying too young.
"I'm incredibly proud that Movember are bringing this life-saving programme to York and North Yorkshire."
The programme forms part of the mayor's Moving Forward campaign, which promotes healthier, more resilient communities through improved mental wellbeing.
It also follows the announcement of Shift Your Focus, a behaviour change campaign encouraging men to take simple actions for better mental fitness.
In addition, the mayor launched a men's mental health investment fund, which aims to support interventions that reduce stigma, reach hard-to-engage groups, and promote workplace wellbeing.
The pilot will involve 30 participants from across the region.
