Islamabad (Web Desk): Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday received a warm welcome as he arrived at the Prime Minister's House in Islamabad during his two-day official visit to Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed him personally, and a guard of honour was presented to the visiting leader.
A smartly turned out contingent of armed forces presented a guard of honour to the visiting dignitary.
The Indonesian president reached Islamabad on Monday after accepting an invitation from PM Shehbaz.
According to the Foreign Office (FO) this is President Prabowo's first trip to Pakistan, pointing out that the last Indonesian presidential visit was made by Joko Widodo in 2018.
The FO added that the timing of the visit holds special value as it aligns with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Indonesia.
During his stay, President Prabowo is also scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari.
The statement added that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will also call on the Indonesian president, the FO said.
Pakistan and Indonesia are expected to sign several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) during the visit.
Both sides plan to discuss ways to deepen cooperation in key sectors including trade, investment, defence, health, information technology, climate initiatives, education and cultural exchange, along with enhancing their partnership on regional and global issues.
