Heartbroken father issues warning after his 13 year-old girl dies taking part in dangerous social media trend
End Time Headlines
A heartbroken father has warned of the dangers of social media after his 13-year-old daughter died participating in a hazardous online trend.
Tiegan Jarman was found unresponsive in her bedroom on March 6 this year in Thurmaston, Leicestershire. Emergency services rushed to the family home, where medics tried to resuscitate her, but the loving and daring schoolgirl was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her family believes Tiegan's death resulted from "chroming," a practice involving inhaling toxic fumes from household items like deodorant cans for a temporary high. Stepfather Rob Hopkin said the family was unsure if she had tried it before, as it leaves no trace, but she had used at least one can of deodorant.
Tiegan loved her pets -- two dogs and a cat -- and spending time with her best friend Teigan. She enjoyed teasing her siblings, especially sister Alisha, and had an infectious laugh that lit up rooms. She dreamed of working in a hospital like her mother Sonia or becoming an actress, and she adored watching sunsets.
Living with her father Paul Jarman at the time, Tiegan was described by him as the most loving, daring, warm, funny, and quirky girl. "My life was twisted upside down when she died," he said. "She used to call me Pookie." They shared simple joys, like cooking butter chicken together.
The family aims to raise awareness about risky social media trends. Hopkin noted it's hard to feel angry at one person, but social media platforms should better control harmful content. "They control things like pornography but seem unbothered about trends that can kill instantly."
Tiegan had siblings Brogan (24), Callum (17), Alisha (18), and four stepsiblings. Alisha launched a petition to enforce prominent warnings on solvent products, mandate specific inhalation danger labels on deodorants, and require schools to teach about social media risks, including chroming and challenges like the blackout challenge, as a core subject.
