Chandigarh bride drives her own Mahindra Thar to in-laws' house after wedding

A wedding video from Ludhiana went viral after a bride decided to ditch tradition and drive herself to her in-laws' house in a Mahindra Thar right after her send-off. The moment, now making rounds on social media, has received admiration for its confidence and charm.

Every wedding has that one defining scene that steals the show. For Ludhiana's Bhawni Talwar Verma, it wasn't during the pheras or the varmala, but it was the moment immediately following her farewell.

While most brides take cautious steps under the weight of their heavy lehengas and jewellery, Bhawni walked straight toward the SUV, opened the driver's door, and took her place behind the wheel as though she had rehearsed it.

In a video shared by Instagram user Chirag, the bride can be seen getting into the Thar as she prepares to drive away, her groom is seated in the passenger seat as he joins his hands together and says, "I need us to reach home safely."

Later in the video, he is seen helping Bhawni out of the vehicle, a huge smile intact on her face.

In a conversation with Aaj Tak, Bhawni revealed that the plan had been entirely her own idea. "I had decided beforehand that I would drive my Thar doli myself," she said. She added that while she hadn't told anyone initially, her family fully supported her once they found out.

Bhawni's bold move received a whole lot of praise and applause online, with several users calling it refreshing to see a bride blend tradition with independence in such a memorable way.
