Cancer, cardiac patients to get free treatment in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has decided to introduce the Chief Minister's Special Initiative Card for cancer and cardiac patients in Punjab under which the government will pay the full cost of treatment for people suffering from cancer and heart disease, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chairing a meeting in Lahore on Tuesday, Punjab Chief Minister announced that every patient suffering from heart disease will get treatment facilities worth up to Rs1 million through the CM Special Initiative Card.
Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education gave a detailed briefing to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The meeting was briefed that in the first phase, 45,000 patients in Punjab will be free from the cost of expensive treatment with the new CM Special Initiative Card.
Free surgery will be performed through the Chief Minister's Cardiac Surgery Program Card.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has sought a program plan for timely treatment of stroke and paralysis.
OPD block of Nawaz Sharif Institute Cancer Treatment and Research to be functional by January 17.
The meeting was further briefed that deadline to activate Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Sargodha set by January 31.
