Economic Times
Apple's Fitness+ service is expanding to India and 48 other countries on December 15, offering 12 workout types and personalized plans. New features include K-Pop music, Artist Spotlight playlists, and Time to Walk stories. The service, priced at ₹149/month or ₹999/year, is available with free trials for eligible new Apple devices.
Apple is rolling out its Fitness+ service in India on December 15, the largest expansion since the platform first launched five years ago.
Jay Blahnik, Apple's VP of Fitness Technologies, says the goal has always been to use Apple's ecosystem to make staying active feel easier and more natural. From real-time metrics appearing on your devices to being able to work out wherever you are, the service is designed to fit into everyday life.
With the expansion, people in 49 countries will get access to 12 workout types -- including strength, yoga, HIIT, pilates, dance, cycling, kickboxing, and meditation. Sessions range from five to 45 minutes, and users can pair an Apple Watch or AirPods Pro 3 to see metrics like heart rate, calories, Activity rings, and even how their effort stacks up against others.
Custom Plans automatically build personalised schedules based on preferred trainers, workout lengths, music genres, and activities. Music continues to play a big role, and Fitness+ is adding a new K-Pop category across all workout types.
Fitness+ will be available for ₹149 per month or ₹999 per year, and the plan can be shared with up to five additional family members. The service is currently available in several countries including the U.S., UK, Australia, Germany, and more -- with India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Norway, and others joining on December 15. German and Spanish dubbing arrive the same day, while Japan gets access early next year along with Japanese dubbing.
Apple is also offering three months of Fitness+ free with eligible new devices like the Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, AirPods Pro 3, and Powerbeats Pro 2.
