MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A 15-year-old boy was struck by a car while he was crossing a street Thursday afternoon in Whitehaven, police said.
According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), officers responded just after 4 p.m. to a crash at Winchester Road and Elvis Presley Boulevard. They arrived to find a boy had been hit by a Nissan Altima while he walked across the street outside a crosswalk, police said.
The boy's injuries were not considered life-threatening, though MPD had initially said he suffered critical injuries. He was ticketed for not using a crosswalk, police said.
The driver of the Altima was cited in the crash for financial responsibility and no state driver's license.
